  1. I am writing a paper on horse racing?
What should I add to my paper??
this is what i have so far please give me some advice. It has to be 3 pages long.

The most popular type of horse racing is known as Thoroughbred racing. Horse racing is an equestrian sport that has been practiced for a long time. Chariot racing in the early days is the same form of horse racing. The type of race and events all differ; it really depends on where the race is located each country has different rules and regulations. Thoroughbred racing has certain types of tracks. The races usually occur on a flat surface of dirt, polytrack, or grass. The races consists of a bunch of young horses usually around three years old.Thoroughbred races run at a wide variety of distances, from 5 furlongs to 1½ miles.

  2. If you have any questions about the sport please IM or e-mail me at anytime.

  3. "The most popular type of horse racing is known as Thoroughbred racing."
Most popular where? What distinguishes thoroughbred racing from any other type? What other types are there? And why is "Thoroughbred" capitalized here?

"Horse racing is an equestrian sport"
    No kidding. :) Redundancy.

"that has been practiced for a long time."
    How long? Where? By whom?

"Chariot racing in the early days is the same form of horse racing."
What early days? Where? "Same form" as what?

"The races consists of a bunch of young horses usually around three years old."
How many horses? "A bunch" is colloquial; don’t use it in formal writing. What do you mean by "around"? Do two-year-olds run? How about seven-year-olds? Why is there an emphasis on three-year-old horses (and there is!). Also, check your subject-verb agreement ("races consists").

"Thoroughbred races run at a wide variety of distances, from 5 furlongs to 1½ miles."
What’s a furlong? How long does a race take? What’s the record for a mile and a quarter? What does the phrase "most exciting two minutes in sports" refer to, and what does it mean?

You’ve got to address wagering somewhere in a paper on horse racing, don’t you? How does it work? Is it responsible for racing’s popularity, and to what extent?

You’ve got a good start, but a long way to go. Good luck!

  5. horse-racing is know as the sport of kings, most of the races are for horses around 4 to 5 years old, and most of the young horses start their career at the distance of 4 to 4/1/2 furlongs, but now on the west coast they run races at the distance of 2 furlongs, the world championship for horse racing is held each year at the breeders’ cup, and a different track is selected each time, the world most riches race is the Dubai world cup, in the middle east.

  6. My suggestion is to start with a history. Do a couple paragraphs about it. When it started, who started it, where is, the different types of racing (flat, steeplechase, pacing/trotting) (and the breeds that race). Go into the different surfaces and lengths. Get records and the averages for the times for a 1/4 mile etc. Use a table if you are allowed to.

Talk about the Triple Crown. What it is, when it started, some notable horses who have won it. Talk about the Breeders Cup.

Talk about some notable horses in racing history, Secretariat, Man o War, Ruffian, Barbaro and what made them great. Maybe end the paper with Barbaro as he is fresh in everyone’s mind.

Make sure to check your spelling and grammer, and make sure you have an introduction that provides almost a roadmap to what you are going to talk about and a conclusion that wraps it all up.

Good luck! Sounds like a fun topic to write about! You have a good start, you just need to expand it more.
