A friend of mine called the other day from Los Angeles and said she wanted to set up a phone consultation for her dog. I said “you don’t need to”. She said “why not?” I said “because I already know what is going on.” (Not that I’m that psychic mind you – but as an Animal Communicator I’ve seen this a million times). I continued “you’re calling me because your dog is depressed.” She agreed. “She came to you depressed and fearful and you are depressed at times so the two of you are a great mirror and commiserate when you’re depressed. When you’re not depressed, you spend the rest of the time feeling sorry for her past. Therefore, you are falling into what I call default behavior.” I told her to call me in a few days if she still wanted a session.

We all fall into default behavior. We don’t allow the moment to exist. I explained to my friend that at that point, that dog was lucky. In fact, it had been lucky for all the years they were together. It no longer had the sad circumstances it had before and in fact, she had a great life. The dog had a kid and a cat to look after, my friend loves her – it doesn’t get any better.

When I saw her in person weeks later I asked about the dog. She said the switch was overnight. Once she acknowledged that this was a great life NOW, the dog could enjoy life.

Not everything is that quick, but really it could be. When we default into certain feelings, we allow the animal to ‘get away’ with certain behavior that is not serving the harmony of the household. If we continue to feel sorry for someone or stay hurt by something, we are not allowing them to be all that they can be.

This is not to say that we need to be in denial, it’s the opposite. By staying in the past feelings, we are actually denying them the present (and who is better than the present than animals?!) Sometimes you already know the painful circumstances that the entire household is clinging to. And if you don’t, it’s a good time to call in an Animal Communicator. But meanwhile, acknowledging the circumstances is important, but also acknowledging how great things are NOW is vital. They don’t have to stay in feelings. Feelings are like waves at the ocean, they come and go. (We all tend to forget the go part.) Sometimes giving it a date to let it go – like we can all feel badly about this until next Friday is a great way – you all might get bored by Tuesday and be on with the day.

The following are typical examples of things WE ALL DO:

Feeling guilty about going out of town or being away all day.

If guilt was measured in dollar amounts and put into a bank account, it could give the Vatican a run for its money. And there’s no place better than to do this with our animals!! There are lots of ways around this. First of all, you have to do what you have to do (as in j.o.b.) in order to afford this dog/cat/bird/goldfish/horse the life of luxury he/she gets to lead. Secondly, you can say everything with a positive tone. “I will be home at 4:00 and we get to go on a walk.” While you are away, replace the guilt with the feeling of looking forward to connecting with your friend. Believe it or not they pick up on stuff when we are away and what would you rather send, something good or bad? Make your vacations a vacation for them, they get to eat all that stuff I would never feed you with the housesitter, etc. It’s fun, all fun, they respond to an uplifted spirit.

Feeling guilty about adding a baby or another pet to the household.

Life is life. While your dog/cat/bird/goldfish/horse may have been the baby before and a real live baby is coming into the home, you may want to include them – that you need their help – employ them. They can always use an extra job. They can be in charge of the safety or training of the new animal….etc. By feeling guilty, you are setting up room for them to be resentful and act out.

Feeling sad about an animal’s past.

Here’s a big one. Again, the example at the top is truly how quickly we can help them let it go. If that doesn’t do it, as I said, let them download with an Animal Communicator. Sometimes just getting their story “off their chest” so to speak allows freedom. In addition, having it released from their muscle memory by a canine massage therapist, a cranial sacral practitioner, acupuncture and/or chiropractic, may be the best money spent. Sometimes bad memories are stored in their bodies and it is our job to help them find the therapy to get it out. Also the word “rescue” has such a negative, sad, forlorn vibration to it. If you were to close your eyes and think of the word rescue, it automatically brings up unwanted feelings, quite literally. So start referring to the day that you adopted your friend as the “lucky day”. Encourage people that are in the rescue world to start finding other words like “sanctuary”. Nothing leads to bad behavior faster than the word rescue. We feel sorry for them and let them get away with things we wouldn’t let a kid do. There still have to be boundaries. Chances are good that if you are a caring guardian and are reading a magazine like this to learn to be better, your animal is already on the road to a charmed life. So just start expressing and enjoying it more!! But don’t forget boundaries and training.

Staying mad about an episode in the past.

This can create the never ending cycle of really bad behavior. Animals pick up on the pictures words and feelings of their guardians very quickly. When we hang on to an episode that infuriates us, unfortunately, we are creating a billboard for them to replicate the behavior. They are not necessarily picking up on our feelings about the event; they just see the instant replay in our mind and think they need to do it again. If your cat isn’t using the litter box and you’ve run blood work and you’re quite sure the problem is behavioral, rather than to cling to the image, try to sort out what they are ‘pissed off’ about while at the same time, picture them using the litter box. I know this is difficult but you can’t let your mind slip – not even at work. Forgive the behavior and send the picture you want.

Being fearful of how the animal will behave.

Again, this is billboard material. And when we get a little panicky about something – i.e. our dog gets leash aggressive and we don’t want to see any of the neighbors, unfortunately, we are setting them up not only in our mind but in our body language and the tone in our voice. At this point the time and money spent on a good dog trainer is worth its weight in gold. You can’t afford the fear and must remember, you are in charge – it is your home, in fact at that moment, you need to provide them with security. Fake it until you make it down the road the first day and then call a dog trainer.

I am not pointing the finger at anyone. Over the years I have made all of these mistakes with dogs, cats, horses, etc. What I have found in life is there are no mistakes only lessons. Our animal companions offer these so graciously!!

Watching the Grand National race has become a favorite past time for millions of enthusiastic fan. The Grand National is the most popular National Hunt racing in the world. It is also one of the most exciting and controversial races due to the high number of injuries and death of the horses while competing in the race. To date, a jockey had died from injuries that was sustained during the race.

The event is a Grade 3 event for horses that are above 6 years old. It is usually conducted on a Saturday, in Liverpool. The circuit requires the horse to jump over a total of 16 fences. Only The Chair and the Water Jump will be jumped over once. The rest of the fences will be jumped over twice. The circuit is dangerous to negotiate because of the severity of some of the fences. It is while jumping over those fences that accidents happen. However, in recent years, due to immense pressure from animal activists, the severity of these fences have been reduced.

The beginnings of the Grand National dated so far back that it was unclear when it actually started. Some argued that the first race took place in 1836, while others insisted that the race started in 1837 or even 1838.

Over the years, the Grand National had produced many spectacular stories. In the 1950s, the National Grand was dominated by a certain Irish by the name of Vincent O’Brien. Vincent was a horse trainer, and he successfully trained horses that won the National Grand in 1953, 1954, and 1955.

Year 1967 was also an interesting time. Rank outsider, Foinavon, managed to came in first at the odds of 100 to 1. It was ridden by Johnny Buckingham. What happened was that two loose horses managed to put off the leading pack. The horses either stopped or refuse to continue, and had to be remounted. Foinavon was so far behind that he managed to avoid the incident altogether, and overtook 17 horses to come in as the winner.

The most famous horse of the Grand National was undoubtedly Red Rum. It is the only horse that won the Grand National three times. It won in 1973, 1974 and 1977.

The Grand National is a rather unpredictable race. From history, all kinds of unexpected or unforseen circumstances can cause even the best horses to lose the race, or the unpopular horses to win the race. Perhaps that’s why millions of people are hooked to the Grand National. Even highly accomplished jockeys like Terry Biddlecombe, Stan Mellor, and Jonjo O’Neill never won the race.

The unexpected twists and turns of the Grand National provide tons of entertainment for its audiences. Even mares (female adult horses) can win this race. To date, a total of 12 mares managed to become a winner. Who would have expected that?

You need to use good horse riding techniques when riding a horse for the first time so that you do not have any issues. If you are thinking of getting a horse you want to make sure you take lessons and know how to ride a horse. You need to remember that they are animals and in some cases can be very unpredictable. The first thing you need to do is to sign up for lessons so you can get the experience you need to be a good rider and this will also help you to feel more comfortable on a horse.

How to: Ride a Horse

Make sure when you are selecting a horse you check with the trainer and find out which one has a good temperament. You never want to select a horse bust because it looks good you need a horse that is well behaved. When taking lessons it is very important to follow the directions and learn from your instructor because when you are in a real life situation you need to know what to do. Your horse may get spooked for some reason when you are on the trail and you need to know how to handle that situation. Once you understand how a horse operates and thinks you will enjoy going out for rides regularly.

Advice for: Horse Riding Tips

Remember that riding a horse is not hard to do but you need to learn about the horse and how they react. You need to know what to do in real world situations so that your horse trust you and does not throw you off. Make sure you feel comfortable with your instructor and ask questions so you get all the knowledge you need to be a good rider.

Know The Types Of Races To Determine The Appropriate Horse Racing Systems For You

Oftentimes, your horse racing systems adapt to the new conditions of new races. Indeed, there is no such thing as “same old, same old” races in horse racing. Weather conditions, post positions, jockey and trainer combinations, ground conditions, and horse class and fitness are just a few factors in horse racing.

Thus, adapting your systems according to the type of race can be a logical move. Here then are the types of horse races.

Stakes and Handicap Races

These are the highest level of horse racing, which offers the highest purse winnings amongst all types. Thus, if you win here, you win big! Adapt your horse racing systems to allow you this advantage.

Also, stakes races are participated in only by the best horses in the stables, the creme de la creme of the horse racing world. The racing adrenaline alone is enough motivation to bet on these horses.

On the other hand, horses in a handicap race carry varying weights. This is supposed to level out the racing field such that a better horse will have about the same chances of winning as an inferior horse; usually, the former is assigned heavier weights.

Thus, you might want to bet on the horses with heavier weights on the assumption that they are superior. Also, take into consideration that weight breaks are also assigned to younger horses, fillies, and other handicap conditions as the Racing Secretary sees fit.

Allowance Races

In allowance races, conditions are set by the Racing Secretary. These conditions limit the qualifications by which a horse can enter the race. Thus, you will hear of qualification requirements like non-winner of two races other than maiden, or non-winner of three races other than maiden.

In these types of races, you have to reconfigure your horse racing systems to account for these horse requirements. Expect that your favorite horse can perform differently in a different class.

Maiden Races

Maiden races are participated in by horses who have never won a race. In a sense, it is the horse’s initiation to the professional world of horse racing. These races are further subdivided into two types. The maiden allowance is generally participated in by the best bred and youngest horses on the track, with consequently higher purses than the maiden claiming race. This second type differs from maiden allowance because the horses can be bought after the race.

Your horse racing systems would have to take into account the unproven winning ability of the maiden horses. You have to possess higher risk tolerance, acceptance of speculative losses, and a formidable knowledge of horses and horse racing, among others, to find the thrill of betting on maiden horses an exhilarating and rewarding experience.

These are the stages of racing that a horse must go through – from maiden races to stakes races. If you are an avid punter in horse racing, you can adapt your horse racing systems to reflect the changes (or non-changes) in a horse’s racing career.

Try not to stick to one system in all the types of races. This would be foolishness and foolishness has no place in successful gambling.

Even with horse racing tips coming from bookies, trainers and owners, jockeys, and winning punters, you shouldn’t only put your money on a particular horse simply because they said so. You need a horse racing system that considers aspects such as the horse’s physical appearance and race history, weather and ground conditions, and the jockey and trainer. There’s no bible in horse racing’s unstable world, so don’t take other people’s word for it.

You shouldn’t place your money on a horse just because the horse racing tips you got from successful punters, jockeys, owners and trainers, and bookies said so. You need a horse racing system that considers aspects such as the horse’s physical appearance and past performance, climate and ground conditions, and the jockey and trainer. If not, you will be taking other people’s tips for the bible when there is no universally-accepted bible in the volatile world of horse racing.

Take Big Brown’s stunning comeback, for example. It is a ‘last today, first tomorrow’ scenario; he won the Haskell Invitational 2 months after a disappointing last-place finish at the 2008 Belmont Stakes – that goes beyond horse racing tips.

Gambling Tips

Before horse racing tips can be of use to you, there are 3 simple gambling tips that you can keep in mind. These gambling tips will help cease a losing streak, no matter what your game is. Compared to the following tips, luck does not play a role:

* Manage your money wisely. You won’t know the consequences of gambling until later when all your money is used up. Unless you own the oil of Saudi Arabia or Brunei, you should set limits on your spending. These limits must include the most money you can spare to lose, the point when you will stop gambling on a winning streak, and the amount of bets you will place. Don’t be greedy!

* Make educated guesses. You will not know the results until the finish of the race, but you can make an educated guess. It makes a lot of difference if you know what show and place bets are, among other things.

* Go for it. Don’t gamble if you’re scared of losing. To get in the game, you need courage.

Yes, with the correct mindset, you’ll definitely win more.
Take Advantage of Your Horse Racing Tips

With a horse racing system created, you can then maximize the horse racing tips you’re getting. You can achieve this by:

* Bet close to the race time. After all, many factors can affect the race, like weather changes, injury, handicaps, and ground conditions.

* Maintaining sobriety as you bet. With your judgment befuddled with anxiety and alcohol, you might end up facing disastrous financial outcomes.

* Be patient. You’ll win some, and you will lose some. It’s best to remember that you cannot win them all.

When you are in the right mindset, you can win more than you lose.

Before choosing a particular training method, carefully examine the technique to ensure that it will communicate proper associations. Certain methods may not communicate what you intend. A dog-aggressive Akita was enrolled in a training program that his owner thought was reputable. The trainer convinced the owner that the only way to break the Akita of aggression toward other dogs was to let a more dominant dog put him in his place. The trainer’s dog displayed dominance toward other dogs, so she placed him in a room with the Akita and left the two dogs to work things out. When the trainer heard a window crashing, she opened the door to find that her dog was injured, and the Akita had been richly rewarded for his aggressive behavior with a nice victory under his collar.

If this method does not make sense to you, it probably won’t make sense to the dog, either. One trainer sent around a flyer giving free advice to the general public on how to stop dogs from digging. The trainer suggested filling the newly dug hole with water and taking the dog over to the hole by the scruff of the neck to dunk his head in the water filled-hole. The next sentence on this flyer cautioned the owner that the dunking probably would not stop the dog from digging; instead, forcing the dog down to the water by the scruff of the neck was a demonstration of dominance, a root cure-all for problem behavior. The trainer thought through the method far enough to figure out that the water would have no effect on future digging. Unfortunately, he did not explain that the dog would learn to mistrust his owner for trying to drown him. Shortly after this flyer was distributed, another trainer was indicted for animal abuse for employing this very correction technique.

Occasionally, even thinking through a method does not result in a clear understanding of how it works. One day a fellow drove up to class in a pickup with his dog in the back. The dog trainer explained to him that it was very dangerous to have the dog in the back of an open pickup. He went through the normal lecture on how the dog’s nose and eyes could be damaged from debris in the air, the danger of the dog being thrown out of the truck in an accident, etc. The fellow proudly said, “I fixed the dog from jumping out of the truck. He was jumping out and I would throw him back in. We did this for five or six times when I finally got really mad and threw him in the truck for the seventh time and stuffed a piece of horse manure in his mouth for good measure. After that the dog never jumped out again, and the next time he does something bad, I am going to use that manure trick again.”

It was really hard to determine if the dog stopped jumping out of the truck because he got tired of being thrown back in, or if he was grateful for the gourmet horse manure treat. If you are not sure about exactly how or why a method works, it is probably best to avoid the technique altogether. Even the most popular methods use techniques that may not be suited for every breed or temperament of dog. A trainer who evaluates each method based on the efficacy of the associations and motivators will be better equipped to match the appropriate obedience method with the dog’s individual temperament.

Many people have discovered betfair trading to earn good amount of money. If you are a newbie in the world of betfair trading, then you need to know some of its tactics. Apart from laying and backing odds, you have many more options to consider.

Betfair trading on horseracing implies either lay them to ensure high profit or lay odds and then back them to lower your profit level. The main rule here is to lay low and back high. It does not matter which system of betting you choose to do first.

Betfair trading on horse racing is a lucrative method to earn money, but at the same time it is not so easy. There are various different markets available for you to trade, but the most popular that all people wish to do is just on horse racing. As it is simple and you just need to watch the screen of your computer for several hours to earn bucks. This kind of trading is fast-paced and enjoyable, if you do properly.

Earning Potential:

Some of the successful experts of betfair training claim to make about £1000 each week from horseracing betfair trade. Even, people have seen punters, who even made more than expected from this lucrative opportunity. However, you need to understand that, it also needs around £1000 to invest. This means, if you wish to earn £1000 each week, then you need to invest £1000 to start with. With regards to how to get in this trading line, you can take help of some useful web sites on the Internet that offers you with trading resources and tutorials to help you out.

The lowest bet amount on this betfair system is £2, but betting under £2 is simple. Placing a bet under this category is very useful, since it lets you to verify strategies without committing loads of money. Betfair trading is mainly placing a bet on the progression of a horse price. If you believe that a horse price will come down, then you can back it at the moment and lay it afterwards at minimum amount.

So long as the horse’s price is in motion of your expected direction, you can achieve an immediate and lucrative income. You can go over this trading process many times within a single event. Either wait until there is a change in the price of the horse or ask for the closing price that you expect and wait until it matches with your price. Indeed, you can modify the horse price and stake any time as per your wish.

Overview:

It is not necessary for you to lend any amount for covering the closing bet. In addition, you can benefit from a cheap commission liability that is payable, when you make profit from overall market, as opposed to the winning profit selection.

To sum up, whatever area of betfair trading that you want to specialize in, if you are serious about being successful, then definitely you will win and achieve desired income.

There are a few things that some people wish to do before they die. For some they want to climb Mount Everest, some want to see the ancient pyramids, and some just want to learn to ride a horse. Fortunately for me I was able to learn to ride a horse at a very young age and it’s something I have enjoyed my whole entire life. If you wish to learn to ride a horse I’ll give you just a couple of things that you should learn to do right at the start.

One of the first things that you should do when you learn to ride a horse is to learn how to lead one. That’s probably not what you had in mind but still, it’s kind of important. You shouldn’t be standing at the end of the lead rope trying to pull your horse along and you also shouldn’t be standing at their shoulder letting them lead you along. There’s no control in either of those methods. The best way to lead a horse is to stand with your shoulder pretty close to their throatlatch and about a foot over to the side of them. That way you have enough room between the two of you for comfort. With one hand right below the lead snap and the other holding the rest of the lead line, you will step forward with the horse hopefully following. If it doesn’t then you just simply push gently in the direction you want to go with the hand that has the snap. That will give you the most control over the horse.

Now that you know how to lead a horse your horseback riding lessons will flow smoother. When you learn to ride a horse you have to be in control and if you can lead one with control on the ground you have a better chance of being able to learn to ride a horse. Riding a horse works best when you know that you’re in control. If you think that you can’t ride a horse, you will never be able to learn proper horseback riding. They will know that you’re scared and take total advantage of you. That’s all there is to it. If you get scared just take some deep breaths and tell yourself that you’re the boss. Any time my mare and I have a “discussion” and she thinks that she’s the boss I calmly let her know that I’m the boss and that I’m always going to win. And I always do. You can’t get rough and be mean but you have to be firm. If you start beating and thumping on a horse, odds are it’s gonna scared and then you might get scared. Not a good thing.

You can learn to ride a horse by taking lessons but unless you are with a trainer that has a goal of teaching you something in particular, you might be able to get the same effects by watching a few videos or reading some horse training books. And a lot of those books you can purchase online for a reasonable cost. No sense making horse ownership any more expensive than it needs to be. If you learn to ride a horse, you are learning a skill that has been around for hundreds of years and obviously is still important to this day because people still do it. Mainly some will learn to ride a horse for pleasure, relaxation or just time by themselves. What’s you’re reason?

Here’s another question from email after my post about a horse’s sense of trust (No click). And it brings out a point about a horse’s senses that you might not have realized. I certainly didn’t until I started studying horse health. But if you understand it, you’ll know why a horse might be reluctant to cross strange streams.

“Dear Sierra,
A few days a go you wrote about taking a horse onto a trail he’s never been on, especially water. I haven’t owned my horse for very long, but I’ve found that my horse is very hesitant to cross a stream he’s never seen. Why is it that he can cross strange land okay, but not water?” -KR, King of Prussia, PA

Great question. The answer is in your horse’s eyes. Here’s what I mean…

Because your horse’s eyes are located on the sides of his head, they have very good peripheral vision. But as good as his vision is, he does have some blind spots. When your horse stands straight with his head up, he cannot see…

* Directly behind him
* Directly in front of his forehead (within a few feet)
* On his back just behind his withers
* Directly under his head

It’s the last one – directly under his head, that is causing your horse to be uneasy while crossing a stream.

You see, when a horse encounters trouble, his first reaction is to flee. So his life depends on his legs. He know this very well, so he’s very protective of his legs. That’s why he’s not so excited about crossing a stream he’s never seen before. He can see it coming from a distance. But once he’s right up on it, it disappears from his vision.

Your horse is reluctant to walk across something strange if he can’t examine first. He doesn’t want to jeopardize his legs if he’s not sure what he’s stepping in. So your goal is to get your horse to trust you, his leader, never to let any harm come to him. And that includes stepping into uncertainty.

Here’s a horse training exercise you can try with your horse. Get a shiny piece of gray plastic, like, say, one of those jumbo-sized garbage bags. Place it on the ground, then slowly lead your horse over it.

He’ll experience a tense moment when the bag disappears from his sight. But once he steps on it a few through it a few times, and realizes he still has all his appendages, his trust in you will increase. And that’s what you want.

So when you see a horse crossing a stream you know he’s never seen before, you can be sure he has a great sense of trust in his leader. Your goal is to get your horse to trust you as that leader. And when he does, he’ll go anywhere with you.

Yours for Better Horse Health,

If you are a horse lover and have ever wanted to own your own, how to train them can be an issue. If you are going to own a horse making sure they are well trained is very important. In this article we want to give you some tips on training them so you and your horse can have a rewarding relationship.

How to: Train a Horse

First, as with most relationships in life you must gain your horses trust. If the horse doesn’t trust you they will never listen to you or follow commands.

Secondly,if you want your horse to pay attention to you they must also respect you.

Advice for: Horse Riding Tips

Third, your horse will respond to gentleness, much more more than they ever will to rough handling. Good patience and communication is essential. You can lose all the trust you have established with your horse if you are being too rough.

Fourth, learn to control the pressure you you on your horse. Your horse is innately looking for an escape. If you control the pressure your horse will feel that are free to a degree.

Fifth, each time you take your horse out for a workout or ride try to improve on something. Do not let the relationship between you and your horse become stale and boring.

Sixth, consistency is very important with any animal, especially horses. Each time you are with your horse have the same patterns. From the start of your time together set routines. Horses like to know what to expect and the more set patterns you establish with the animal it will be good for you and the horse. Remember the key is routine and consistency.

Lastly, as with any relationship you have you want the relationship with your horse to be a positive one. You want them to like you just as you want to like them. A horse will preform any task for you if you treat them with love. Remember you have to give love to get love. That goes for animals as well as people.
